Your Farmers

Hi, I’m Abby! I am the owner and operator of Black Dog Blooms. Along with the help of my husband, Devon, we grow flowers right here in Maine. We grow the majority of our cut flowers at our home in Sangerville. We purchased a retail shop and event space in Dexter with two heated greenhouses in 2024.

We are a small-scale specialty cut flower farm, and with our floral shop we supply the local community with seasonally based flowers year-round! We have been growing many varieties of premium and unique flowers since 2020. Our goal is to provide our community and designers with high quality, lush blooms that are ecologically and responsibly grown.

Our farm is not open to visitors at this time. Please understand that it is a working farm and located at our home. We cannot accommodate guests or farm tours. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay up to date with on farm events or workshops.

Our Story —

Abby here! I grew up in Vermont, which is much like Maine in many ways. I moved to Maine in 2019. After working in healthcare for the last 12 years, and being a nurse for the last 6, I found myself getting more and more frustrated and needing a creative outlet. I also wanted to be home more with my family and animals.

Growing up I worked on a vegetable farm, and this is where my love for being outside and having my hands in the dirt started. Fast forward to working as a nurse and feeling a little overworked and unsatisfied. I started to dabble in “the flower thing”. I was hooked. I decided to dive into this adventure and have not looked back. Each year our farm grows and evolves and each year we have the MOST amazing flowers. It is so satisfying and there is so much beauty in flowers. I really love the joy that our specialty blooms bring to people.

The inspiration and motivation behind Black Dog Blooms was my black lab named Maverick. He was with me through many life stages and wanted nothing more than to be with his people. We lost him in the fall of 2021 at 11 years old. He was the best planting assistant and harvesting companion.

Currently, I work full time on the farm. We have two young children, and two dogs, Shelby and Arlo.
