About Us

Hi there, I am Abby! I am the owner, floral designer, and farmer behind Black Dog Blooms. I have a love for fresh flowers, seasonality, and growing beauty. We have been growing many varieties of high quality, lush blooms since 2020 at our home in Sangerville. We also acquired our floral shop in Dexter, Maine where you can find premium and unique florals year-round as well as some specialty gift items. It really is amazing what you can grow in this climate with a greenhouse, row cover, and a little dedication. Along with the help of my husband, Devon, and our amazing team we put together a small business that prioritizes nature, beauty, and our clients.

Our floral shop with gifts is open to the public, but please understand our greenhouses and home farm is not open to visitors at this time. We are a working farm and the majority of it is located at our home. We cannot accommodate guests or farm tours at this time, but will have planned farm tours during the season. Follow us on Instagram or Facebook for the latest news.

Our Story —

Abby here! I grew up in Vermont, which is much like Maine in many ways. I moved to Maine in 2019. After working in healthcare for the last 12 years, and being a nurse for the last 6, I found myself getting more and more frustrated and needing a creative outlet. I also wanted to be home more with my family and animals.

Growing up I worked on a vegetable farm, and this is where my love for being outside and having my hands in the dirt started. Fast forward to working as a nurse and feeling a little overworked and unsatisfied. I started to dabble in “the flower thing”. I was hooked. I decided to dive into this adventure and have not looked back. Each year our farm grows and evolves and each year we have the MOST amazing flowers. It is so satisfying and there is so much beauty in flowers. I really love the joy that our specialty blooms bring to people.

The inspiration and motivation behind Black Dog Blooms was my black lab named Maverick. He was with me through many life stages and wanted nothing more than to be with his people. We lost him in the fall of 2021 at 11 years old. He was the best planting assistant and harvesting companion

You can usually find me designing in the floral shop or harvesting in the field. My spare time is usually spent wrangling our two young children, and our two dogs, Shelby and Arlo.
